Who is your professional dance partner? My dance partner is Trish Camera, American Ballroom & Latin Dance Studio, Shrewsbury.
You’ve made a very big commitment to something really special. What motivated you to commit your time and money to this
competition? Because Sandra would not take no for an answer— and I have to say her commitment to giving back to the community
is so impressive that it was impossible to refuse to support this great cause.
Do you have any previous dance experience? I do not have any formal dance training.
How are you doing with your dance lessons so far? Any surprises? The lessons are going well. I have to say that the instructors
are extremely patient and it really has not taken long for them to move me past the embarrassment stage. No calls from
Hollywood just yet, but I am able to move around the dance floor without looking at my feet!!!! It really has been very entertaining
and, of course, it is for a good cause.
Meet the Dancers
Christine Rouleau, RE/MAX Hometown Realtors
Who is your professional dance partner? My dance partner is Ross Verbiyan, American Ballroom & Latin Dance Studio,
Shrewsbury.
Different from last year? New from last year.
We know last year you spent countless hours practicing and lots of money on dance lessons. What is motivating you to do it
again? I have always had such a passion for dance, ever since I was small. I suffered a major injury a few years back and feel very
lucky to be able to dance again. It is my favorite activity and makes me feel truly alive. Putting that passion to work for a great
cause to help others with Habitat just makes perfect sense.
Did you continue on with dancing after the event last year? How often? I didn’t dance as much as I would have liked after last
year’s event, but did perform in Dancing with the City 2 at Mechanics Hall to benefit Preservation Worcester. I also choreographed
a number from Grease for the fifth graders spring concert and graduation in the Athol School system which proved to
be one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.
Bring us back to last year for a minute and tell us what you were thinking when you walked out onto the dance floor in a room
filled with over 500 people watching! I often feel that performing is like being on a roller coaster ride. Right before you perform,
it feels as if you are on the top of the hill, and you want to turn back, but you can’t. Then after, you feel great and are glad
you did it.
Any advice for our daring first timers? My advice to newcomers is just to try and relax and have as much fun as possible. Work
hard, but try not to take it too seriously.
Out of the 4 dances, which is your favorite so far? Tango is my favorite dance. I love the intensity and emotion of the dance.
For me dancing has always come from feelings.
Any other comments? I had a great time last year, and made some wonderful friendships from the event. I am looking forward
to having another positive experience this year.
Carole Holstrom, Sturbridge Real Estate
Who is your professional dance partner? My dance partner is Tom Hesse from Poise, Style and Motion Ballroom Dance Studio and
he has been dancing for 20 years.
You’ve made a very big commitment to something really special. What motivated you to commit your time and money to this competition?
A few of the Realtors that participated in this event last year had so much fun that I could not turn down this great opportunity
for a great cause. There is a great flow of fun and positive energy from everyone involved in this fundraiser. It is really great
to have this opportunity to meet many other Realtors competing. For me, it is not about the competition but all about the fundraiser,
cheering and supporting your competitors and enjoying yourself dancing, meeting and making new friends.
Do you have any previous dance experience? I do not have any experience dancing except for ballet and tap as a child. I started to
take a few cha cha lessons and you just end up getting addicted to the dancing.
How are you doing with your dance lessons so far? Any surprises? Everyone is so positive at PSM and always extends much encouragement
especially to the beginners.
Any other comments? During dance lessons with my instructor, he kept having to tell me to straighten my shoulders and keep them
in the right position. He finally took me over to a studio closet, pulled out a dirty old metal arm posture brace and threatened that
he would make me wear it if I did not straighten out (he was kidding, I hope!)
Meet the Dancers
Antoinette Taddeo, Keller Williams Realty, North Central
Who is your professional dance partner? Anthony Miloski of Poise, Style @ Motion Dance Studio, Worcester.
You’ve made a very big commitment to something really special. What motivated you to commit your time and money to this competition?
My love for dancing. Dancing gives me joy, it’s a great way to meet people and keeps you young, alive and fit.
Do you have any previous dance experience? I have been dancing since I was very young, have taken ballroom, disco and country
line dance lessons previously. I was a cheerleader in high school and was in several school shows where I sang, danced and acted in
plays.
How are you doing with your dance lessons so far? Any surprises? So far I am enjoying my dance lessons. I have scheduled several
more private lessons and will try to attend most dances when time/family allows. The only thing that I have noticed is that I really
do not know anyone and have not met anyone that will be in the event.
Any other comments? I am really looking forward to the challenge!
Ellen Goguen, Coldwell Banker, Leominster
Who is your professional dance partner? My dance partner is Tom Hesse from Poise, Style and Motion Ballroom Dance Studio.
Different from last year? New from last year.
We know last year you spent countless hours practicing and lots of money on dance lessons. What is motivating you to do it again?
I enjoy dancing regardless of the dance.
Did you continue on with dancing after the event last year? How often? No, I didn’t do anything with what I learned from last
year.
Bring us back to last year for a minute and tell us what you were thinking when you walked out onto the dance floor in a room filled
with over 500 people watching! I pretended they were not there!
Any advice for our daring first timers? Enjoy it! It’s only a dance.
Out of the 4 dances, which is your favorite so far? I still prefer the Swing.
